Running from Myself

Mother and Father

Stand above her,

Looking down on her angelic frame

She's so perfect, brilliant

We're so proud she has her life together

She's so happy and cute as a button

We raised such a wonderful child.

Her morals are straight and so is she...

Mother and Father

Stop hurting me

Don't you see all the scars

Your proud words have created?

Mother and Father

I'm so sorry I'm a monster

I only hid

Because I knew I couldn't bear the look

Of your disappointed faces

When you found out who I really am.

You say it'd be fine

If I chose my own path

But God!

How I know that is false!

Mother and Father

Both look away

When I draw the knife across my skin

And scream in pain not understood.

They think I am happy

They turned their blind eyes

So they don't have to see

How I'm just like them,

Struggling and crawling my way through the mud

And Hell itself so I can be myself.

Mother and Father

Don't act so surprised

You should have known my habits

I'm sorry for the lies

But could either of you really accepted me?

Now that I'm gone, maybe you can

Because what choice do you have left?
