Rose
Location
Twas a dark night when I heard that blow,
The dead silence in the night,
I thought nothing of it,
And I was a fool.
A silent breath entered upon my ear.
Grasping,
Gasping,
Tearing me apart,
It whispered to me,
“Rose”
My heart did break,
And my eyes did weep,
But not a sound was peeped.
”Rose”
My heat turned cold as ice,
And as I grasped for air,
I walked through the door.
T’was horror upon horrors,
And there was nothing more
A rose.
My hands did shake a
And my skin did pale.
“Rose”
As I searched and searched,
Nothing more to be said,
But the constant whisper,
The name,
The girl who disappeared upon my eye.
“Rose”
My stomach filled of dread and,
I fell to the floor.
“Rose”
Oh where was that devil women!
Left alone in blood and tears.
She never did show up,
Left me nothing
But a bloody black rose,
Dead and cold
Left me to bitter,
To sour,
And to fall.
“Rose”
T’was the name that filled my dreams,
”Rose”
T’was the kiss of angles.
”Rose”
Were my heart did lie.
“Rose”
and all was gone.
All but her flower,
Left cold and bare,
Crackling and unsettling,
Speckles of red,
The very rose I gave her.
And nothing more.
What do the spirits want I cry!
Every night the same nightmare
It haunts my every moment.
“Rose”
I never meant to do it.
Never meant harm.
What do you want from me now?
A dead man without a soul.
“Rose” the spirits cry.
I can see it in my sleep,
That night haunts me.
The women dressed in white,
And that cold, cold night.
The fear and anguish in thine eye.
The tears I did weep,
The pain I did bare.
My dearly beloved upon my arm.
T’was I who held thy gun,
T’was I who pulled the trigger.
T’was all me,
My Dear Rose,
Why do you haunt me?
You begged me upon your knee,
You help my hand,
You swore your truth,
You whispered your last words.
Rose whom I left in black,
Rose whom I left to rot,
Rose whom I ow my life.
Rose,
T’was all that is left.
