One day,
The lights will glint off this finger
and catch the eye of others
who shall see and be
something like Expectant or Jealous or--
Something Else that will make me feel more or less
like I fit into this world of misfitting conformists
of haters of love who intend to have rings on their fingers
to prove something that isn't love but rather conformity:
An understanding of our society.

The lights will glint off this finger,
but not to show THAT Something,
not to prove my understanding of society nor conformity--
No, I shall wear rings of Promise
and rings of Understanding the Love
our society no longer prompts us to hope exists
but rather attempts to smother
under lies of contentment and empty promise.
I stand for what our world no longer does:
A taste of what Real really is
within a reality of what humans are made to feel
simply because they exist.

I will stand for love, hope, peace--
everything that means Something
to those who risk believing.
