Reality

You're my best friend

But no one can ever know

It's not that I'm embarrassed of you

No of course not

It's that everyone would be disappointed if they knew

I remember

I met you at a party in high school

I was standing awkwardly in the corner

Then you arrived

You were very social

Making your way slowly to everyone

Painting a smile on their faces

Before moving onto your next victim

You've helped me through so much

When I was feeling down

You were always there to cheer me up

When I was alone

You kept me company night after night

Reminding me that you'll always be there

I've met quite a few friends through you

It seems we all share a common interest

We all like to wake the next morning

Not knowing the difference

Between what actually happened

And what was just a dream

Muddy memories meet reality

I never know what's real when I'm around you

You just have that affect on me

Making me see anything I want

Everything I have

I'll never leave you

Even through you put me in the hospital

When I got too excited with you

And don't worry

I forgive you for taking away my job and my family

I didn't need them anyway

As long as I have you clutched in my hand at the end of the night

I feel like I can live happily ever after
