The Real Superheroes
What comes to mind
when you hear the word
Superhero?
Superman
Batman
Knee-high boots
Underwear on top of tights
Capes
Flying
Super strength
Fiction.
Nothing that could possibly be real.
Superheroes are fake.
Superheroes are for children.
But they are real.
They aren’t what you see in
comic books.
They’re everyday people.
The people you run into
on the streets.
They’re the moms
the dads
the aunts
uncles and
grandparents
that struggle
to put dinner on the table
each night.
They’re the doctors
and the nurses
that save the lives
of the sick
and the wounded.
They’re the CPS workers
saving children
from abusive
drug-ridden
negletive
homes.
They’re the men and women
suffering from depression
anxiety
schizophrenia
bipolar
and barely getting though
each day.
They’re the children
that grow up on their own
taking care of themselves
and their parents.
They’re the people
that have the most beautiful
smiles
the loudest
laughs
the largest
hearts
but go home
and when they lay in bed each night
they cry
about all of the
pain
and guilt
that plagues
their every thought.
They’re the people
recovering from their
addictions
to crack
meth
food
cutting
alcohol.
These are the people
we should looks up to
and emulate.
These are the people
that deserve the applause.
These are the
Real Superheroes.
