A lamppost shines

Against the pitch black sky

Illuminating the rain

Glistening like fallen stars

Hitting the pavement in silence

I take another drag

Let my breath out slowly

A cloud of smoke surrounding me

I’m in my own version of heaven now

Nothing

But thoughts of you

Running through my mind

And as I watch the rain

Fall to the ground

And disappear

I think about how much it resembles

The way my feelings

Fell to the ground

And disappeared
