A Quick Reminder

One day they asked me where or when

I'd think myself to be,

five years from now, or maybe ten

spent with their company.

I said to them, and say to you,

I'm sure I do not know-

perhaps I'm just here passing through

and getting where I'll go.

While we're young and children yet,

they ask us what we'll be-

as if we read the omens and fret

at the tender age of three!

Let the youth be young, I say!

Allow them to learn and grow!

They don't need to file a 401K

while sledding in the snow!

The older I get, the more I believe

that time will pass us by

like sands that sift and pass the sieve

while we just sit and sigh.

Get up, I say! The sun is bright!

You've still got breath in your breast!

Do not go gentle into that good night

just because you're studying for tests!

The future will come, and bring what it may,

but none of that changes the now;

so when they ask you, it's okay

to say it's not all figured out!

We're all on a journey, with twists, loops and turns,

and rarely's the end in our sight.

Just keep keeping on, you'll live and you'll learn

and everything will end up alright.
