Purple Canvas

She called herself blue but he named her red

Her heart was bright but he couldn't have that so he twisted every word she said

Her body was his canvas and his hands the brush

He painted her in brilliant purples and blues

He smothered her with his protection

And drowned her in his care

Because he was the only one that did
