Pure.

When you began to trace electric secrets across my hand
we were not sitting beside each other,
but levitating in a pool of humming energy, bright fuzzy lights, hesitation.

When you paused, incredibly near,
and did not back away again,
when you kissed me, beloved,
we were not in a noisy bar at all,
those strangers' eyes fell into darkness.

The walls, the floor, the town, fell away from us
like a painted stage set,
leaving echoing, unscripted truth:
you teaching me what tender means.
Your silky cheek brushing mine,
your delicate curls in my fingers,
my hands trembling and shameless,
your eyelashes sweeping softly up,
your eyes searing through the core of me,
your azurite eyes, never faltering,
your endless eyes, the purest thing I have ever known.

The earth was spiraling at a breakneck speed.
And only we were still.
