Princess Ariel and Prop 67

Princess Ariel and Prop 67

There once was a little mermaid under the sea

Adventurous and curious was she

Her next fascination was a human named Eric

She saved him from drowning when he was only age 11

Thus began the makings of California’s Prop 67

They became fast friends

And wished the fun would never end

But one day Ariel asked about something humans used

She explained that when filled with stuff it would usually sag

After a while, he exclaimed, “Oh, you mean a bag?”

You see plastic bags have been harming the ocean for years

It has become inhabitants of the ocean’s worst fears

These bags being mistaken for food is just one example

Something so simple that carries your groceries from the store

Blocks the breathing ways and stomachs of sea turtles, dolphins, and more

When Ariel explained these things to Eric

He made her stop, he couldn’t bare it

He decided to do something and spread the word

Soon enough tweets and snaps, and Facebook posts galore

Came the pressure from consumers to the grocery store

No life is too small, something had to be done

With a ban on plastic bags, the war was finally won!

“And this is where our story comes to an end”

Said the mother to her young boy named Kevin

“The story of Princess Ariel and Prop 67.”
