princess

Lashes weighed down by mascara
Adding to the burden of keeping her eyes open

Lips the color of blood
Seemed to mock the sickly pale of her cheeks

Nails stained a blush pink
Hid the blue tinge underneath

Long curls around her shoulders
Her only shield to hide behind

Lace around her neck and wrists
In place of shackles and collar

Delicate stilettos with ribboms and bows
Kept her in place, not running to freedom

A ring of diamonds and pearls and gold
Kept her loyalty fixed to her family

A smile, a gentle hand, an embrace
Served as a chain around her heart, utterly binding
