Powerful Words

Some people believe that their words have no meaning and cannot affect anything, however, I believe that's just a sign of low self esteem. The truth is that with each word comes a consequence very much like those of actions. Words can have many meaning and many interpretations, but they are very important and hold the key to communication. One word can start a war and lead to countless deaths, but one word may also cause peace and prosperity for years to come. Never let anyone say that your voice has no purpose for any voice that can make words has a bounty of power. However, like any weapon, words aren't always used for good, they can be twisted around into something dark until they no longer resemble their old self. Words can take the life of an innocent person without even knowing it. We were given the gift of words yet we use it to bully, hate, and degrade others who do not appear normal to us. We try to label them with words, but when there is no other word to describe the beauty that you see you resort to what you know. When you cannot find the words to label or describe these unique beings, words begin to flow out of your mouth like a tidal wave of ignorance. You call them fat, ugly, weird, and worse, all because they are not boring like you. Words are powerful and you may crush those innocent lives, but you also known how it feels to have words used against you, yet you continue to wield them. Your absent father never even used a word to cushion your fall, your alcoholic mother only used the words that the alcohol gave her to plague you with. The words that haunt you in your dreams don't just come from your mother though, they come from your friends who whipped you into submission to their oppressing normalities. When you finally awaken from the curse placed on you using harmful words you run back to those you destroyed and you use the weapon that has caused the destruction to release a whisper of hope. You tell them one word that may not seem like much, but is the most powerful of them all. You whisper in a soft tone to wrap them up tightly and comfort them in a blanket of forgiveness. You say "sorry"
