Poisoned Memories

A tender gaze

and I catch my breath.

You don't know what you mean

to me.

All these feelings I try to hide

behind a veil of normalcy -

the pain and anger

love and need

dead passions of yesteryear

You are my cure

for the poison-laced memories

that kill me

from the inside out

while you're away
