What does poetry mean to me?
Poetry means an escape
A way to let out
All I wanna release
But never dare to say

Poetry is so much more than a boring lesson
Taught by an English teacher
It's a string of deep diction
Written down in perfect harmony
To create a memorizing melody

Poetry is so much more than just a hobby
Used to pass time
It's a way to let go and let out
All that's kept buried and bottled up
Like a bunch of fireflies caged in a jar

Being a poet means
Releasing those private thoughts from their cage
To make a difference
To make a change
