A Poem to Myself
Location
Darling
You delicately crafted
Beautifully flawed
Darling
Behind those distraught eyes, lies an unimaginable truth
The constant urge, the wanting, the struggle
To be loved
And to be accepted
But darling
Dearest darling
How can any other soul love you, if you haven't learned to love yourself?
Your flaws, your imperfections, your mistakes
They make you
They craft you
They are you
So when posed the question, what makes you flawless?
Darling, look in the mirror
At the very same mirror you used to run away from
When the kids would pick on you, and tease you
And trample over your heart and soul
I want you to look in it, and finally find you
Those hideous acne scars
Those never ending battle wounds
The mole placed in the middle of your forehead
Not to mention the jungle god gave you as eyebrows
And the dinosaur bones, known as teeth
Darling, stop crying over them
Look at them
Embrace them
Laugh at them
If you don't, your fears will
And you will forever be held back by the very thought of them
Darling, I want you to love yourself
Because only you, can prove to others just how flawless you are
A flawless girl, who in fact, lives in her very flaws
And she accepts them
She loves them
She is them
