A Poem of Hope

Sun, 07/05/2020 - 17:20 -- kathili

2020 was off to a great start

But Covid-19 hit us like a dart

Our lives were changed while the virus

Stole the sense of stability from inside us

Forced into an indefinite quarantine,

We interact with the ones we love through a computer screen

Reopenings have started, but for what cost?

We blindly return to the lives we have lost

Hospital doors swing open

Too much anxiety is unspoken

With masks on and gloves equipped,

Health care workers let more patients in

Essential workers toil, bags under their eyes

Both groups honorably risking their lives

These are times unlike any other

We must choose to support one another

Hope will rise from difficult situations

From acts of kindness and positive conversations

The future remains unknown

But when this is over we’ll all have grown

For now, stay safe and though it feels like we’re stuck

It will be okay as long as we never give up
