Plush

A ten inch doll

soft and vulnerable

lay motionless.

She always stays still- even when someone

  unthreads her button eyes.

The other dolls cut her hair with scissors;

  brown yard had covered the floor.

The scary old bird, with the salt and pepper feathers,

used his sharp talons

  to slice her open

  and tear out all her stuffing.

She was an ugly doll; she was an empty doll.

Nobody would keep her forever.
