Please Put It Down

Fri, 10/02/2015 - 10:28 -- Teever

Please put the knife down, can’t you see that you’re bleeding?

Here’s a band aid, I’m calling the therapist, it’s help that you’re needing.

Please put the bottle down dear, what is that? Drain-O? Windex?

Don’t drink it, it’s poison, don’t die now, I understand life is complex.

Please put the pills down, I beg you, I don’t want you to die!

Without you, I’d suffer, I’d miss you, every day I would cry!

Please put the gun down, give it me, it should have been locked…

I’m sorry you were bullied, I know they’re mean, you were teased, you were mocked…

Please put the phone down, don’t run away, I beg you please!

We all love you! We want you! We’re sorry! I’m on my knees!

Please put the drugs down, where did you get those? Don’t give in!

You know those are illegal! I don’t want you arrested; don’t go to prison.

Please put the rope down, get off the stool, get the rope off the ceiling.
I want to know what’s wrong, I want to help,  I want to know how you’re feeling.

Please put the lid down. Just close the coffin. I can’t bear to see my dead son again.

If I knew he was in pain, if I just paid him attention, these would’ve been the words I would’ve said.
