Playing Pretend (Inspired by The Hunchback Of Notre Dame)

There's a hazy shade of gray,

settled in front of me.

I can't see past anything.

It really drives me crazy.

But I still think that I see everything.

Just a kid in America living in a full state,

it's called insanity.

I could be the knight.

You can be the princess.

I can be a light.

You can be no stress.

I can be your friend.

You can be a story with no end.

We're anything and everything when we play pretend

Living for the thrill of art,

it always becomes me.

Chained to the thrill of art,

I don't make it anymore, now it makes up me.

We build our lives around a fantasy.

I could be the knight.

You can be the princess.

I can be a light.

 You can be no stress.

I can be your friend.

You can be a story with no end.

We're anything and everything when we play pretend.
