Pitiful Lies

I hear the lies that seep through your lips
I prepare my ears for your false words
I prepare my feelings for your pitiful efforts to spare them
Do you lie to hide your mistakes?
Do you leave me for him?
Are you too afraid to tell me you'll never be able to resist him?
Are you afraid I will judge you, even after everything we have been through?
Do you lie because you are ashamed?
Or do you because it is easier for you, and you just don't care?
I hear the lies that seep through your lips
And I prepare my armor for your pitiful efforts to spare me...
When you only hurt me more.
