A Picture

Think of someone you love.

Think of how you last saw them.

How was their hair? The color, the cut.

Did it fall in their face? Or was it short?

Was the light bouncing off it?

Tell me about their face.

What color are their eyes?

Are their lips thin or full?

Do they have pronounced cheek bones?

What about their nose? Big or small?

Were they smiling? Do they show their teeth?

Keep going down. Giving little details.

A necklace, watch, bracelet or a ring.

How did their clothes fit?

Did they match or carry some significance?

Do they have any scraps or scars?

Just picture all the little things.

Like sock tan lines, or no tan lines.

Maybe picture the big things.

Like how they smile when the see you

Or how they wrap their arms around your neck.

I can see it all. Her hair falls down to her shoulders.

It’s brown and wavy and comes close to her eyes.

The light gives her hair a glow.

Her eyes a blue, deep and full of love.

Her lips are pink and curve slightly into a tender smile.

I can think of more than just this one picture

But the one I hold most dear is for my heart alone.

It’s how I will always see her. What made me

Think of her in such a fond way.

So create your picture and hold it dear.

Hold it close and hold it tight.

Because it’s all yours
