It’s funny
how the lack of color
and the emphasis of color
express the peaks that pull you out of your inner canyon.
From this
I’m
not my depression.

I’m noir the way
I  paint life more standstill than it seems.
To provide an essence of pain into mine own life
because there’s something  sadly beautiful in a lack of color.

I gravitate towards the brilliance of the dull because it strips away the fallacies behind
every pot of gold that color
represents.
it pulls  my left sleeve down in efforts to hide the purple&brown
scars displayed across my arm.
it’s the whisper that  “I’m okay” when my heart is crying that “ITS NOT!”
In this crescendo

I’m noir.

I’m chrome the way
my three year old brother’s laughter
resonates so deep within me
that it paints a smile over the splatter of sorrow
over mine own face.
Because there’s something eerily joyous in taking in another’s happiness as your own
enhancement of color.

I become enamored by the pain overshadowed by
the ray of sunshine that highlights our deepest flaws
because it saturates our lowest points as even tones.
the way my mom tells me she loves me
even after I refuse to tell her about the demons running amok in my mind,
the countless numbers of faces coaxing me out of my room
with a curve of the lip that like a disease spreads to mine.
In this transaction

I’m chrome.

Its funny how the lack of color
and the emphasis of color
express the peaks that pull you out of your inner canyon.
From this
I’m
not my depression.
