Perspective
She sat alone
Sun rays bouncing off her bronze skin
As she gazed off at something unknown,
And when her eyes turned to me
My body was just another being
Sinking into caramel and
Getting stuck in her irises.
I never learned to free myself of her captivity,
but I learned how to make her eyes sparkle.
I learned her laugh is like a melody
I didn’t know I wanted.
I learned that her hands were as soft
as butterfly kisses,
And her lips even softer.
I learned that she wanted to hide the
good parts of herself that people
kept trying to steal,
And found myself falling deeper into
Quicksand eyes.
