Perpetual Knowledge Acquisition

Last year, I was a mess

365 days ago all I cared for were tests

I would sit and study all night and day

Until my eyelids would finally give way.

At the turn of the year, I began to think more

About what would help me in the future

Then, all I could think of was crippling debt

While all my friends had fun with boat jets.

Sooner than later, I came to realize

College would be more than had met my eyes

School'd prove to be a masterpiece in itself

For I would never learn about life stocking a shelf.

Now, I dream of a future of constant learning

I wish for my knowledge base to continue growing

Never will I again be so against the factual proof

That school will lead to much more in my life than a roof.

Sure, it'll lead to a roof being put over my head

But without it, I may as well end up on the street dead

No knowledge and no skills would I acquire

But the spark of school will ignite my ever-burning, passionate fire.
