The Period Lesson

How dare you young man make my period your burden!

Are you bleeding for a week with indescribable pains?

Coursing through your stomach veins?

Fuck you nigga because I ain’t ask for this gift

A gift disguised like a curse

Because it’s painful

But really it’s the reason for the miracle of birth

I bleed because my body is cleansing itself

Of the intoxicants and impurities

You placed upon it with your love stricken inquiries

I constantly check my pants for red stains for fear of embarrassment

Nah fuck that homeboy those stains are proof of an anatomical enchantment

Those stains are proof that I am stronger than you

I see those stains and roll my eyes

Tired of my vagina and the red tears it cries

You see those stains and damn near faint

It’s just a little blood, nigga are you okay

How dare you make me feel uncomfortable with my body!

After this red week passes you gonna think I’m a hottie

Nigga please grow up

Do it for your daughters and sisters and mothers

The women who bleed without you caring because you ain’t tryna fuck em

You wanna fuck me but my body controls you

I bled for a week when I lost my virginity until my period stopped it

So fuck you nigga for making me feel bad and disliking the natural thing that stopped my pain

When you were the one who caused it
