The Passing Year
This year I was set in motion,
I was shipped across never-ending lands
With cloth over my eyes
And my arms and legs wrapped in ties,
I was taken.
Taken from what I call home
What I call my sense of self.
My arrival was nothing but terrifying
Tripping over tangles in this Tetris game,
Then the panic attacks came.
Anxiety surrounded me from every corner
Then washed over me.
Relentless with its harsh waves
Pounding into me, creating sand.
Then like Moses newly found friends parted the sea,
And lent me a hand.
I'm still in water,
But I can breathe.
