Paradelle in a Pandemic

And so it came, this wave, a curse, wild storm

And so it came, this wave, a curse, wild storm

Strange stilling howl, alone we froze at home

Strange stilling howl, alone we froze at home

Alone, curse froze. This howl, at stilling

came strange. A wild storm and so we wave it home

“Be gone” we cried, “Dont settle here”

“Be gone” we cried, “Dont settle here”

Yet come it did, then left us silent, hushed

Yet come it did, then left us silent hushed

Come, settle it did.  Hushed we cried

“Don’t be here.” Then gone. Yet left us silent here

Cocooned, we blinked our wings awake

Cocooned, we blinked our wings awake

We sang anew, our hearts soared high

We sang anew, our hearts soared high

Our wings cocooned, awake we sang

Blinked, our hearts high, soared anew

A storm came, froze us here at home, strange curse

Cocooned our hushed hearts, wild, we cried,

our wings silent, stilling, a lone howl, “Don’t come yet here”

Then, it left, so it did.  Gone.

Blinked, awake we sang high, soared.

And we settle, this wave anew.  Be.

Annette M Velasquez

I was unfamiliar with the paradelle, but know how difficult it is to write form poetry- even a sonnet, syllabics, lipograms. You've not only done well in terms of craft and poetics, but wrote a timely, resonant, honest poem.

Tess Townsend

Thankyou Annette, I am so glad I heard about it as a style.  If you like writing, why not give one a go.  So good when you get it right.  Its fun, like a complex jigsaw.  I am going to post another.  Tess
