Paper Wings

What we’re both made of, it’s what makes me up too

I have these paper wings, so when it’s raining I can’t keep up with you

What you’ve done my friend, I cannot undo

We’re made up of water and glass, so why can’t the sparks shine through?

I always thought I would be up for the fight

Without rescue and overthought, heavier are the sounds of my water and glass falling apart

Where is my strength when it gets dark at night?

I left myself somewhere broken, and can’t see through the cracks when your soul departs.

Without you my glass is all broken with sharp edges that now always remain dark

You left yourself all alone and just waited for the gas to fly you away.

But, even though tragedy strikes, I can still see some brightness just before trying to cross over the arc

The rain turns into winter lights, now I know my paper wings can carry me through today.

Now we are on different sides of the arc, can we still hear each other when we pray?

Where do prayers go if I don’t want answers? I would let them all go un-answered, because I’d rather have you just stay.
