Paint-bucket Bird

Location

A forgotten baby bird
feathers grey
feet unstable

Stranded by the water
born alone
barely breathing

Eye of God watching
open wings
orphaned young

Every single colour chosen
simple blue
soaring yellow

Brought up to Heaven
ugly duckling
uncertain eyes

Question is the colour
ideal appearance
imagine greater

Dip the paintbrush in
temptation growing
time evaporating

A million other choices
make one
mix all

Little paint-bucket bird
perfect creation
pity gone

Rainbow adorned bird feathers
acceptance given
artist's masterpiece
