Our Saving Grace

The greatest thing in this world

Happened two thousand years ago.

Thought tragic the events that did unfurl,

He gave for us His soul.

The words were loud and cruel,

Their message plain and clear.

Her tears did shine like falling jewels

As she waits for him to appear.

She felt in her heart the color black

As they placed the thorns upon His head.

Knowing not He would be back,

In agony, she wailed as He bled.

Once, twice, thrice He fell

En route to His dying place.

Along the way the women did wail,

And Veronica wiped His face.

A great cry sounded from His lips,

He raised His head up high,

"Father, forgive them all for this!"

And upon that cross, My Lord died.

In darkness laid the world

Awaiting for its King.

A longing swells within the girl;

She cries, no reason to sing.

But lo, the third and final day,

Christ returned from hell.

And for our sins, His life He paid.

Sing Aleluia! Ring the bell!

For God so loved this world of ours

That He gave His only son.

Souls from paradise no more be barred!

Happy Easter, everyone!
