Our Rebellious Princess

Once upon a time-

Near modern day to be exact,

There lived a young little girl,

A princess, typical, that likes to act.

Her parents were disappointed. They wanted her to be-

A normal princess that will later marry and become queen.

Our rebellious princess, with an unknown name

Would rather be known by her acting than her royal fame.

Born in the spring of the 20th century, she was blossoming beauty,

Whose growing passion resided onto theatre and not completing a royal duty.

Her father wasn’t happy, he’d rather keep it traditional.

Her mother said everything would change, “it’s just transitional”.

Clearly it wasn’t what mother expected, clearly something stayed,

Our rebellious princess, her passion committed to never fade.

She spends her time in this room, the room with the widest stage,

Red curtains curled back, with paintings at a remarkable age.

She didn’t look for a prince; a prince did not look for her,

That made her father upset, his kingdom will definitely suffer.

Our rebellious princess, she truly loved her dad.

As a result, she left her passion, which truly made her sad.

At a young age she married, to a careless prince,

Who later became the selfish king, the kingdom fell since.

Then she borned a princess, a charming girl she’ll be

The girl will grow up, with our rebellious princess as queen.

Our rebellious princess, who is now the queen,

Does not enjoy the way she’s being seen.

She wished she could act, she wish she could become another

But here she is, a regretful queen who’s also a mother.

This is the 21st century, and this separation still exists.

Where girls- and boys are molded into a role they resist.

Whether it’s ordinary people, or even royal blood,

Everyone should be happy, and have their joy flood.

This is a fairy tale, sadly there’s no happy ending,

Yet if this new philosophy comes in, it’s seen as offending

So this is a fairy tale, there isn’t an ending to recall

But one day we will see equality for gender, race, and all.
