From Our Arms To Yours

Today's the day we could see
Through the telescope of time
Small girl, once, on daddy's knee
Can hear her wedding bells chime.

And they're happy bells, these bells
And the messages they bring,
All the tears and joys they tell
We think back, as they ring

Of a little child; small form
Life inside of me, and how
I held you, bundled, so warm
In loving arms, kissed your brow

You grew, in time, but our arms,
Which you knew, that in the end
Gave you shelter from life's harms
We would open, we'd extend

We'd scoop you up, hold you tight
Kiss you tender, on the cheek
Those little hurts, we'd make right
You'd look up as we would speak

Today those arms release you,
It's so hard for us to do.
Into arms of someone new
A man to love, all life through

Lord as today, from our arms
We do yield, through open doors
Calm our hearts from false alarms
She goes from our arms to yours.
