Opposites (Usually) Attract

I'm as out of place

in your life

as a stop sign

on train tracks.

I'm the slap

across your

cheek

when all you

wanted was

a kiss.

I'm the jar of

green pickles

when you crave

red cake.

I'm the awkward silence

in your room of

voices.

I'm trapped behind

the fence,

but you're the gate

that sets me

free.
