the opposite of love

Fri, 09/25/2015 - 17:53 -- okayls

today, to demonstrate to the class the proper technique for an informative speech

our instructor told us about the science of love, the chemicals that make us fall for each other.

he talked about the dopamine that we get addicted to, craving like needles in the middle of lonely nights,

the feels-so-good-to-love-you that washes over you like waves-- you may drown in it but if you do,

it'll be such a way to end.

he told us the dangers of the norepinephrine that'll kill you the first chance it gets, slams your heart into an overdrive, panic attack, roller coaster crash with no survivors.

your heart'll beat against your ribcage and slice itself in half trying to get closer to its lover, with nothing but the devil's rush to blame.

but the oxytocin is what gets you, gluing you to the smell of their shampoo on your pillow.

i think i'm just afflicted with the opposite of love.

i think i'm just afflicted with chemicals of you,

and i'm choking.

my heart is beating out of my chest and

a rib might stab through it.

i might be dying, a little.
