One thing would change
Wars
It’s a horrible thing
Guns bang and shout
People’s ears hurt and ring
What is this all even about
Kids cry for their moms and dads
Clinging on until the very last minute
Everyone looks so sad
As they fasten on their hero pennants
They end up in foreign lands
Lost and afraid for their lives
They don’t really even know the plans
Or why the people have eyes of knives
Many of their new companions perish
By mines, bullets, and such
Their lives left only to cherish
And mourn the loss of much
One thing I would change
One thing I know
I’d take away the hurt and pain
The good-bye they all throw
