One Christmas
Dear father,
You came through the
door like a fox,
It’s been so long.
I didn’t dare look up
I didn’t know
what to call you.
A solar eclipse showed
more than you did,
your shower of gifts a
drought.
In and out like
a gentle soul,
not knowing what you did
to my heart.
Ripping
and
shredding
through my body,
a hollow shell
is all that’s left.
The only thing I could think
about is when you
turned your back
ten years ago.
This poem is about:
Me
My family
