Once Upon a Time

Once upon a time,

 There was a girl.

This girl wasn’t pretty.

She wasn’t smart.

She wasn’t successful.

She was a disappointment to all.

The mirror on the wall,

Never showed her as fairest of them all.

She was a loner,

A freak.

She was the girl left for the wolves.

She was the one with the poison apple in hand.

She was never the beauty only the beast.

She was the evil and never the good.

She would forever be the villain, never the hero.

Once upon a time,

A year passes.

The girl had a sudden realization.

She realized she couldn’t be what people saw her as.

She had to be her own person.

She realized that she was beautiful.

She was smart.

She was successful.

Every time she would look in that mirror,

It would be her.

And that she was the fairest.

She wasn’t alone.

She had friends and family who loved her.

She wasn’t a freak.

She was weird and had quirks.

But that was ok.

She was strong enough to fight off the wolves.

She could throw away the poisoned apple.

She was a beauty instead of a beast.

She was good.

She was a hero.

Once upon a time.

There was a girl who looked in the mirror.

She saw the person she finally wanted to be.

And she wouldn’t change for anybody.
