Once Upon A Time
Once upon a time, I was a news reporter sharing my story with everyone.
Once upon a time, everyone stopped and listened to what I had to say.
Once upon a time, my life was full of light and glowing things that fascinated me.
Once upon a time, I could see the glow in everything.
Long, long ago, we moved far far away.
Long, long ago, I started to hear the shouting and see the fighting.
Long, long ago, I fought to keep my family together.
Long, long ago, it was destined to fall apart.
In a land of balance, I was battling the darkness.
In a land of balance, I became the light.
In a land of balance, I noticed I had never been the center of the world.
In a land of balance, I became one with those around me.
In times of change, there were those who hated me, bullied me.
In times of change, I was the one glowing upon the hill amidst battle.
In times of change, I filtered my feelings and hid my stories.
In times of change, I began to fall.
When hardships came, I found one person to tell my story to.
When hardships came, I broke and cried.
When hardships came, I persevered, giving up would destroy it all.
When hardships came, I learned I couldn't win alone.
Once upon a time, the world was a simple place.
Long, long ago, I watched as the real problems manifested themselves.
In a land of balance, I sheltered myself and grew to see many sides of the world.
In times of change, the world beat me down.
And when hardships came, I learned I couldn't do it alone, I got help.
Now, life is a balanced battlefield.
Now, I know the world is a complex place with layers.
Now, I know I am a complex person beyond my individual days.
Now, I am, and will always be, a child; working to get back what I lost.
The childhood that was taken away by the responsibility of keeping a family together.
A family that fell apart in the end.
