The Old Woman That Lived In A Shoe

Are you okay? They all would say.

Yes, I’m fine, I would incline.

But I’m not okay, and I’m not fine

And so it goes, the nursery rhyme:

There was an old lady who lived in a shoe

Her children were plenty, but her lovers were few.

Her husband had left her alone with the kin

To go out and find a new lover again.

You see, he left her so oft that she didn’t care

There was no more heartache when he wasn’t there.

She knew he loved her, and he to she

He just didn’t know it; he just didn’t see.

At first it was awful, the pain would just last

But soon she was able to get over it fast.

She knew that this man loved her and their kin

Because he always came back; again and again.

No matter how oft he did then forget,

He always came back, so filled with regret.

Till one day he realized, that it was she

He loved so incredibly, whole heartedly.

Twas that day he said, to the mother of kin,

“I’ll love you forever, my heart you did win.”

So it was not only the woman in the shoe,

But her husband and kin, all 22.
