Old and Worn

This heart is old and worn,
And yet the body it lives in is new.
New and young.
The heart is still full of love.
And yet,
It's old...
Oh so old...
And the pain in it
It's new pain
Pain that doesn't belong
Pain over those who shouldn't be pained for
Pain that makes it feel weak
And yet, it's so much stronger
It knows that it was true
True to him
True to her
They were the closest people
And now they've betrayed it
The heart feels weak
It feels as if it can't continue on
But there's something inside of it
The spark of new love
The fact that though it is old and worn
It feels new and alive
As if it had never been hurt
Hurt so deeply
Hurt so badly
Hurt by those whom it loved
And to this day it still aches
For this heart is old and worn
It has many nicks
And scars
Bruises and stitches
New and old
Some go to its very core
Others only scratch the surface
But overall it still somehow feels new
Like it is young again
Though it is old
Though it is worn
It still loves
It knows it is young
And it knows that it must be
For the cracks will heal with time
And the blackness will soon go away
But in this moment it relishes
It relishes the love
The joy
The pure art of being
So though it is old and worn
It still feels new
And it still beats
Just for you
So shine on
And keep on being the light
For you're removing the darkness
From this old worn heart
