Maybe it’s just me
But what I want to be
Is something quite unheard of

I would like to be a cat
There’s not much better than that
But that isn’t the part that’s strange

I want to be one that lives in the ocean
And for a cat that’s an odd emotion
Because cats don’t like to swim

And the idea doesn’t flow
That I’d also like to glow
And be my own flashlight

I’m aware it’s unreasonable
And probably not feasible
So I’ll settle for the next best thing

I’d like to be a geneticist
So my dreams will not be dismissed
And I may watch strange creatures grow

Maybe it’s just me
But what I want to be
Is only a little uncommon
