THE (NOT-SO) UNITED STATES

Two Young People

Met up in the city.

Had no cash, Had no bread,

No need for the pity.

Started a family,

Worked eight days a week,

Payed the bills before

The kid could speak.

Two Young People

Followed this dream.

Left their families

For golden paved streets.

Thought they were better off

Coming to America and working hard.

Now? It's even harder.

When your President's a puppet and your

Mom might lose her card.

Two Old People

Livin' in the United.

After the election,

We were Divided.

Losing all their youth,

Can't face the truth,

Can't even face

What our government will do.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My country
