No Oxygen

Punch after punch comes my way,

bruise after bruise forms on my face,

broken vessels,

spilling blood.

Nothing slows up,

nothing lets you breathe.

Everything is crashing down

and there is no shelter from it.

No safe harbor,

no sheltered cove,

no eye of the storm,

no oxygen tank deep in the sea.

I falter and fall behind.

I gasp for air, but there is none to be found.

I am last in the race.

I am sinking to the bottom.

There is nothing I can do to save myself.

There is no one to save me either.
