The Night Howler

I am a lone wolf

My young and mates are long gone

Yet like a waterfall I continue;

A young tree growing bigger and bigger from a crack in the sidewalk

I howl deep into the night,

To find a place for the pain

Perhaps I am no more than a mere flower,

For all of those things that I have seen and done

But no.

I am a wolf,

The top of my food chain

No weakness must show,

for it is the fine line between life and death

What should I do now?

I traveled over continents,

battled the wildest sea,

Faced dangers you would never dream of.

Yet I still remember the fateful day,

The day I became alone

I still remember their scent, as fresh as yesterday.

Timeless and ageless,

I am a lone wolf.
