Myself
There goes a time in a young girls life where she is told she is not good enough. That she will never be as pretty as the next. I was told I wasn’t pretty enough or tall enough or skinny enough. They told me that being a little chubby was disgusting. That having a booty and boobs was the way to the top of the food chain. If all your teeth were not perfectly aligned then you would never shine.
If you aren't part hashtag team light skin then why even bother showing your face?
Being too dark is not the memo. Laughing loud with friends is ghetto and having an attitude was a typical black girl move.Acting proper made you an Uncle Tom or a ‘white-black girl’.
But how ‘Myself’ is presented is ME.
I will not let society dictate what I view myself as. I don’t need a thousands likes to prove that I am beautiful when my parents tell me I am beautiful in and out. My melanin is popping under my bestfriend the sun.
Being true to me and who I am.
I ‘Myself’ is bold confident and BEAUTIFUL.
