On My Way to Class

Sat, 07/19/2014 - 20:44 -- asar

A catcall has a special way of turning your day(month)  around.

A loud shout across a busy street has the unique ability to take a bad day

and turn the rest of the week sour.

As I rush across the street, thinking of a thousand witty retorts, they are three or four blocks gone.

Three or four blocks too small to say anything.

Because it was my five foot tall self against the four of them-

and they are men.

And for three or four  days(weeks) I'll agonize

over the fact that I'll never be taken seriously

if I am wearing a skirt.(As a woman)
