My Universe

My universe

When I was five

Was the size of an M&M

The stars were made of rock candy

Cherry

Raspberry

Blueberry

Strawberry

Some planets were Gobstoppers

Mercury

Venus

Earth

Mars

Others were Ring Pops

Jupiter

Saturn

Uranus

Neptune

The Milky Way

Was just that

Like its name

Milky Way

My universe

When I was 12

Was a little bigger and better

The stars formed constellations

Big Dipper

Little Dipper

Orion

The Fishes

Some planets I really loved

Earth

Jupiter

Uranus

Neptune

Some planets I only liked

Mercury

Venus

Mars

Saturn

The Milky Way

Was no longer a chocolate bar

But chocolate milk

Surround by strawberry and banana milk

My universe

Now, at 21

It is too big to comprehend

The stars take other forms

City lights

Airplanes

Glitter

Lighters

Some planets remind me of other things

An element

A song

Tennis

And Spongebob

Some planets I haven’t thought about

Like home

Martians

Seven Eleven

And 764 Earths

The Milky Way

Is still a cloud of diary

Full of glitter and candy

With a 21 dreaming like a 5

The universe

When I’m 80

Will be even more extraordinary
