My Shy Soul
My shy soul
though very full,
can not contain
or even slightly refrain,
from the excitement, and the fear,
to be a camp counselor that year.
I was a little nervous,
but willing to give my service.
But right off the bat,
I started to chat
with the campers who came for the opportunity
to serve the community.
My nervousness subsided,
throught the summer my campers provided
hope for the next generation
by providing a firm foundation
for those in need
of some service seed.
Now my new soul,
though still very full,
is now outgoing
rather than unwilling.
In just a year
all my fear
turned around
from shy and closed-down
to eager, and furthermore
this coming year, become a camp counselor once more.
