My School Year is already in Progress

Wed, 09/13/2017 - 11:03 -- Kate059

I don't know about you

And here soon you'll know a little more about me.

While most seem to be shuffling back to school,

I have already been here.

I'm in college now,

A freshman as you can see.

And I am in marching band,

It's the bee's knees.

So, marching band starts a week in advance,

A week and a half if you're in the dumline.

Now, I don't live in the same town as my school,

Therefore, I moved in on campus, Ode To Joy.

That was back in August, the nineteenth to be exact,

And the school year started the next Monday after that.

The first three days of marching band were long,

Only to fly by as the week drew on.

We had one day off before the first day of classes,

Boy were we tired, anxious, and excited.

Skip the first two days 'til we reach that first Wednesday,

All my classes had been fine and I needed to run to a music store.

I said goodbye to my private flute instructor who knew where I was going,

I then dropped off my things at home and got on my bike to go.

I plug in my headphones so I could hear Google Maps,

And went on my way ready for a change in scenery.

I'm riding along, trying to find my way,

When I get to the bottom the of my school's hill.

I ride along a block or two and come to an intersection,

The cars are stopped, I'm allowed to cross,

When BAM! I get hit.

I'm on the ground and in pain,

I have no idea where I lay.

The person who hit me felt really bad,

And a witness called for an ambulance.

I'm better now than I was then or last week,

I still have some pain but it's nothing too serious.

I missed the last two days of the first week,

And I felt more anxious going into the second week.

I'm now in my third week of college,

And everything is going swimmingly.

All I can say to y'all readers,

Is remember to wear a helmet.

School is safe, but that doesn't mean that it's always safe.

And school, though I grow to love you,

This town you're in just has too much traffic.
