My Reservation

The reservation

Is a place I call home

A place where my culture and tradition outweigh the negative in life

A place where I as a child listened to our songs being sang and our language being spoken

A place where my traditional dances encouraged me to grow and learn the ways of my people.

A place where I hee’tru’ska was shaped and molded into the person I am today.

A place that holds the secrets of my culture together

A place that many people may look at and say “There’s nothing but a bunch of drunk Indians”

The reservation is the place I look at and see that’s where I grew up

That’s the place I call home

The place that has taught me to pray to the creator and to those who have moved on

The place that has taught me that no matter how far away you maybe the closer to home you are

The reservations is the land I grew up on and the land I call home

It’s the place that holds my childhood memories and the place that will always be in my heart no matter how far away I am

It’s my Reservation
